GRASEBY HOUSE

Graseby House is a quiet Halls of Residence and is set up for both 1st year students and returners who wish to study in a quiet relaxed environment; we tend to attract serious students, Undergrads, Post grads/PHD and work placement residents as well as first year students; many have experienced noisy halls and have moved to us to continue their studies in peace. High Barnet is a safe and respectable area with an abundance of shops and restaurants all within a few minutes’ walk. The accommodation consists of 62 single study rooms set in very large self contained flats of 8, grouped around 2 shower rooms and 2 toilets, large kitchen/communal lounge. All areas are double glazed and centrally heated.

We have set Graseby House up so that residents can just move in and not worry about buying equipment on arrival. All kitchens have; Basic supplies of; Plates, pots and pans, cutlery mugs etc. We have also put in washing up liquid, toilet paper and cleaning products. Residents must buy their own supplies after arrival.  Additionally we have domestic cleaners who will clean all communal areas – bathrooms, toilets, hall, kitchen and lounge Monday to Friday.

Each resident has a single study bedroom with sink, single bed, bedside cabinet, double wardrobe, desk with 3 pedestal draws and  2 adjustable wall shelves and additional under bed storage. Each bedroom is supplied with; Duvet, duvet cover, single bed sheet, and mattress cover,  pillow and pillow case. There is a TV point, FM Arial point and ample electrical sockets. (Please note residents with TV are responsible for purchasing a TV licence) Resident share kitchens and have their own lockable food cupboard, share of freezer and fridge. The kitchens are fully equipped with kettle, toaster, microwave, cooker, ironing board and iron. There is a breakfast bar with stools and a seated lounge area. Each flat has a communal phone – incoming calls only (parents and friends and phone in at cheaper rates than mobiles). There is also a BT payphone in the building. All areas have access to wireless fibre optic broadband included. There is a laundry room on site with 2 washing machines and 2 tumble driers.

The sites have electronic fob entry to their block and flat with numbered security locks on bedroom doors. There is a intercom system to the main entrance doors – for added security residents can speak to visitors but must go down to let them in – removing the chance of uninvited visitors being buzzed into the building. Graseby House is located opposite the Police Station.

The building is NO SMOKING throughout; all areas have Smoke/Heat detectors and an automated fire alarm system. There is a warden on site to deal with any fire alarms and out of hour’s emergencies. Caretakers are available Monday to Friday to deal with any maintenance issues.
